Petexbatún
Petexbatún is a region of the south-western Petén in Guatemala, around Lake Petexbatún and the river of that name, a tributary of the Pasión. In the Late Classic period it was dominated by a Maya kingdom ruled from Dos Pilas and later Aguateca, which conquered Ceibal in 735. The kingdom broke up in endemic warfare after about 760, and Aguateca was burned around 810, a well-studied case of the Classic Maya collapse.
