Phalasarna

Also known as Falasarna

Phalasarna was an ancient Greek harbour city at the western tip of Crete, known for its enclosed artificial harbour, protected by walls and towers. It was a rival of Polyrrhenia and is thought to have served pirates in the Hellenistic period. Uplift of the land, probably in the great earthquake of 365 CE, raised the harbour about six metres, leaving it now well inland.
