Crete
Crete is the largest Greek island, in the eastern Mediterranean, home of the Bronze Age Minoan civilisation. Its ancient city-states were governed by magistrates called kosmoi. Ancient writers, including Aristotle, compared Carthage's constitution with those of Crete and Sparta, a comparison noted in the history of the Punic Empire.
