Philip I, Duke of Burgundy

1346–1361 · 14th century · Also known as Philip of Rouvres

Philip of Rouvres was Duke of Burgundy from 1349 and the last of its Capetian dukes. Succeeding his grandfather Odo IV as a small child, he also inherited the counties of Artois and Burgundy and married Margaret of Flanders. His death from plague in 1361, aged fifteen, ended the line; King John II took the duchy and in 1363 granted it to his son Philip the Bold.
