Phra Bang
The Phra Bang is a gilded standing Buddha image, the palladium of the Lao monarchy, after which the city of Luang Prabang is named. Tradition holds that Fa Ngum brought it from Cambodia in the 14th century together with Theravada Buddhism. Twice carried off to Siam, it was returned in 1867 and is kept in the former royal palace at Luang Prabang.
