Picardy
Picardy is a historical region of northern France, centred on the Somme valley, with Amiens as its main city and Beauvais and Saint-Quentin among its towns. A French province under the old regime, it was an administrative region from the 1960s until 2016, when it merged with Nord-Pas-de-Calais into Hauts-de-France. Its open farmland was a frequent battleground, notably in the Battle of the Somme in 1916.
