Pinot noir

Pinot noir is a red wine grape associated above all with Burgundy, where it has been grown since at least the fourteenth century. Duke Philip the Bold's ordinance of 1395 favoured it over Gamay, and it is the grape of the great red wines of the Côte d'Or. It is also used in Champagne and is now planted widely around the world.
