Policoro

Policoro is a town in the province of Matera in Basilicata, southern Italy, near the Gulf of Taranto between the Sinni and Agri rivers. It stands on the site of the ancient Greek city of Heraclea, founded in 433 BCE, and some scholars link its hill with the earlier Ionian colony of Siris. The town's National Museum of the Siritide displays finds from both cities.
