Polydamas of Pharsalus

d. c. 370 BCE · 4th century BCE

Polydamas of Pharsalus was a leading citizen of Pharsalus in Thessaly in the 370s BCE, trusted by the city's factions to hold its citadel and revenues. According to Xenophon he sought Spartan help against Jason of Pherae in 375 BCE, and when none came he agreed to bring Pharsalus into Jason's Thessalian federation. He was killed by Jason's brother Polyphron after Jason's death.
