Province of Castellón

The Province of Castellón is the northernmost province of the Valencian Community in eastern Spain, with its capital at Castellón de la Plana. It stretches from the Mediterranean coast to the mountains of El Maestrat. In antiquity its northern part belonged to the Iberian Ilercavones, and in the 13th century it was conquered from the Muslims by James I of Aragon.
