Qays
The Qays were the northern Arab tribal grouping that opposed the Yemeni or Qahtani faction in the early Islamic period. Their rivalry dominated the politics and armies of the late Umayyad period. Accounts of the Umayyad Caliphate identify it as a cause of the paralysis that preceded the caliphate's fall in 750.
