Quelimane
Quelimane is a port town on the coast of Mozambique, near the Zambezi delta. In the eighteenth century gold and ivory from the Zimbabwean plateau reached the coast through Quelimane and Sofala. After the Rozvi Empire expelled the Portuguese from the interior, trade flowed increasingly through Swahili merchants operating in these ports.
