Zambezi
The Zambezi is the fourth-longest river in Africa, flowing from Zambia through Angola, along the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe, and across Mozambique to the Indian Ocean. It was a major route for trade between the interior and the coast. The Mutapa Empire arose on the plateau south of the Zambezi, and the Rozvi Empire channelled gold exports through trading fairs such as Zumbo on the river.
