Angola
Angola is a country in south-western Africa that was a Portuguese colony from the late sixteenth century until 1975. It was a major source of enslaved Africans for the Atlantic slave trade, especially to Brazil. Portuguese expansion from Angola affected the Kongo Empire and the Lunda Empire's trade, and the colonial war that began in 1961 contributed to the end of the Portuguese Empire.
