Ragnachar

d. c. 509 · 5th century

Ragnachar was a Frankish king who ruled from Cambrai in the late 5th century, a relative of Clovis I. He supported Clovis against Syagrius at Soissons in 486, but around 509 Clovis bribed his followers, defeated him and killed him and his brother Richar. The story comes from Gregory of Tours, who portrays him as a debauched ruler who lost his warriors' loyalty.
