Raj Darbhanga
Raj Darbhanga was a great landholding estate in the Mithila region of northern Bihar, India, held by the Khandavala family of Maithil Brahmins. Recognised by the Mughals in the 16th century and confirmed by the British, it became one of the largest zamindari estates in British India, with its seat at Darbhanga. Its rulers were noted patrons of Sanskrit learning, music and Maithili culture until zamindari was abolished after independence.
