Tughlaq dynasty
The Tughlaq dynasty ruled the Delhi Sultanate from 1320 to the early fifteenth century. Under Muhammad bin Tughlaq the sultanate reached its greatest territorial extent, but his ambitious schemes, such as the transfer of the capital and the token currency, caused serious disruption. Firuz Shah Tughlaq's later reign was more stable, but the dynasty was severely weakened by Timur's sack of Delhi in 1398.
