Ramnulfids

Also known as House of Poitiers

The Ramnulfids were a Frankish noble family that held the county of Poitou from the 9th century and, from the 10th century, the duchy of Aquitaine. Named after Ramnulf I, count of Poitiers in the mid-9th century, the line included William IX, the first known troubadour, and ended with his granddaughter Eleanor of Aquitaine, who died in 1204.
