Ranganathaswamy Temple, Srirangam
The Ranganathaswamy Temple at Srirangam, on an island in the Kaveri River near Tiruchirappalli in Tamil Nadu, is one of the most important shrines of Vishnu and among the largest functioning Hindu temple complexes in the world. Enlarged over centuries by the Cholas, Pandyas, Hoysalas and Vijayanagara, it is enclosed by seven concentric walls with towering gateways.
