Rashidi dynasty

1836–1921 · 19th century · Also known as House of Rashid, Al Rashid

The Rashidi dynasty, of the Shammar tribe, ruled the Emirate of Jabal Shammar in northern Arabia from its capital Ha'il between 1836 and 1921. Under Muhammad ibn Rashid it defeated the Al Saud and dominated central Arabia, with Ottoman support. After Ibn Saud retook Riyadh in 1902 the Rashidis were steadily pushed back, and Ha'il fell to him in 1921.
