Riyadh
Riyadh is the capital and largest city of Saudi Arabia, in the Najd region of central Arabia. A small oasis town, it was taken by the First Saudi State in 1773 and became the capital of the second Saudi state under Turki ibn Abdullah in 1824. Abd al-Aziz ibn Saud's recapture of it from the Rashidis in 1902 began the making of modern Saudi Arabia, and oil wealth turned it into a city of millions.
