Ratnasimha

d. 1303 · 13th century · Also known as Ratnasimha of Mewar, Rawal Ratan Singh

Ratnasimha was the last ruler of the main Guhila line of Mewar, reigning at Chittor from about 1302. In 1303 the Delhi sultan Alauddin Khalji besieged Chittor for about eight months and took the fort, and Ratnasimha was killed or captured. Later legend turned him into Ratansen, husband of the queen Padmini in Malik Muhammad Jayasi's Padmavat.
