Rezon

10th century BCE · 10th century BCE · Also known as Rezon son of Eliada

Rezon was, according to the Bible, a former officer of Hadadezer of Aram-Zobah who fled after David's victory over his master and seized Damascus in the 10th century BCE. He became king there and an adversary of Solomon, founding the kingdom of Aram-Damascus, which soon replaced Zobah as the leading Aramaean power.
