Karnak
Karnak is a vast temple complex at Thebes, present-day Luxor, dedicated chiefly to the god Amun. It was greatly expanded during the Egyptian New Kingdom, including a major building programme under Hatshepsut, and functioned as a religious and economic centre. An Egyptian version of the peace treaty between Ramesses II and the Hittite Empire is preserved there.
