Nubia
Nubia is the region along the Nile south of Egypt, covering southern Egypt and northern Sudan. It was rich in gold and controlled trade routes to tropical Africa. The Egyptian New Kingdom conquered it and governed it through the Viceroy of Kush, while Nubia was also the homeland of the Kushite Empire, which later ruled Egypt.
