Rhadamistus

d. c. 58 CE · 1st century

Rhadamistus was an Iberian prince, son of King Pharasmanes I, who seized the kingdom of Armenia in 51 CE after treacherously killing his uncle Mithridates, its Roman-backed king. His rule was challenged by the Parthian candidate Tiridates, and he was driven out within a few years and later put to death by his father. According to Tacitus, he threw his pregnant wife Zenobia into the Araxes during his flight, though she survived.
