Person
Richard Harliston
Sir Richard Harliston was an English naval commander and Yorkist supporter who recovered Jersey for Edward IV. In 1468, with English ships and the help of islanders, he besieged Mont Orgueil, which had been held by the French since 1461, and forced its surrender. He was afterwards governor of Jersey, but later backed the pretender Perkin Warbeck and died in exile in Flanders.
