Rong people
The Rong were peoples of the western and northern borderlands of ancient China whom the Zhou states regarded as outsiders. Living in the uplands of Shaanxi, Gansu and Shanxi, some were herders and others farmers in walled towns. One group, the Quanrong, sacked the Western Zhou capital in 771 BCE, and the State of Qin spent centuries fighting and absorbing Rong groups such as the Yiqu.
