Rova of Antananarivo

The Rova of Antananarivo is the royal palace complex of the Merina kingdom on the highest hill of Antananarivo, Madagascar. It held the palaces and tombs of the Merina rulers from the seventeenth century, including the great Manjakamiadana palace, built of wood and later encased in stone. A fire in 1995 destroyed most of its buildings, and restoration has continued since.
