Rusa I

Rusa I was king of Urartu in the later 8th century BCE, ruling from about 735 to 714 BCE. He faced attacks from the Cimmerians in the north and the Assyrian Empire in the south. In 714 BCE the Assyrian king Sargon II routed his army and sacked the temple city of Musasir, and Assyrian sources say that Rusa took his own life on hearing the news.
