Rwandan Revolution
The Rwandan Revolution, or Hutu Revolution, was a period of violence and political change in Rwanda from 1959 to 1961 that ended the Tutsi-led monarchy. Beginning with attacks on Tutsi in November 1959, it brought the Hutu party Parmehutu to power with Belgian support, abolished the monarchy in 1961 and drove many Tutsi into exile.
