Ryūzōji clan
The Ryūzōji were a samurai family of Hizen province in Kyushu, originally vassals of the Shōni. Under Ryūzōji Takanobu they overthrew the Shōni and in the 1570s and early 1580s became one of the three great powers of Kyushu beside the Ōtomo and Shimazu. After Takanobu's death at Okitanawate in 1584 real power passed to their retainer Nabeshima Naoshige, and the main line died out in 1607.
