Sabellians

Sabellians is a name used by ancient and modern writers for the Oscan-speaking peoples of central and southern Italy related to the Sabines, such as the Samnites, Lucanians and Hirpini. Tradition held that many of them began as 'sacred spring' migrations of young men sent out from the Sabine homeland. Most were absorbed by Rome by the 1st century BCE.
