Sabarkantha district

Sabarkantha is a district of north-eastern Gujarat, India, named after the Sabarmati river, with its headquarters at Himmatnagar. It was formed in 1949 from Idar and many small princely states of the former Mahi Kantha Agency, which had been merged into Bombay Province, and became part of Gujarat when that state was created in 1960.
