Sa'd I ibn Zangi
Sa'd I ibn Zangi was the Salghurid atabeg of Fars in southern Iran from about 1198 to 1226. He strengthened the dynasty, built walls and mosques at Shiraz and fought the Khwarazmian Empire, which captured him and forced him to cede part of his lands. His son Abu Bakr ibn Sa'd later submitted to the Mongols and kept Fars from destruction.
