Saffron Revolution
The Saffron Revolution was a wave of protests in Myanmar in August–October 2007, named after the robes of the Buddhist monks who led them. Sparked by a sharp rise in fuel prices, the marches grew to tens of thousands in Yangon and other cities before the military government crushed them in late September, raiding monasteries and killing dozens of people.
