Saluva dynasty

1485–1505 · 15th century

The Saluva dynasty was the second ruling house of the Vijayanagara Empire. Its founder, the general Saluva Narasimha, seized the throne from the last weak Sangama king in 1485 to defend the empire against the Gajapatis and the Bahmani Sultanate. After his death power passed to the Tuluva general Narasa Nayaka, regent for his sons, and in 1505 Narasa's son took the throne.
