Santa Igia

Also known as Santa Gilla

Santa Igia was the capital of the medieval Judicate of Cagliari in southern Sardinia, on the edge of the lagoon west of present-day Cagliari. The judges ruled from there with their palace and cathedral from about the 11th century. When Pisa conquered the judicate in 1258 it razed the town, and Pisan Castel di Castro, the core of modern Cagliari, replaced it.
