Schaan
Schaan is the largest municipality of Liechtenstein, just north of the capital Vaduz on the Rhine plain. An ancient settlement with Roman remains, it became the country's main industrial centre in the twentieth century, home to the construction-tool maker Hilti, founded there in 1941.
