Scetis

Scetis, the Wadi el-Natrun in the desert west of the Nile Delta in Egypt, was one of the main centres of early Christian monasticism. Macarius of Egypt settled there around 330, and the sayings of its monks were collected in the Sayings of the Desert Fathers. Several of its monasteries are still occupied by Coptic monks today.
