Schenectady, New York
Schenectady is a city in New York State on the Mohawk River, founded by Dutch settlers in 1661. On the night of 8–9 February 1690, during King William's War, a French and Native raiding party from Montreal surprised and burned the village, killing about 60 people. It later grew into an industrial city, the home of the General Electric company.
