Schöllenen Gorge
The Schöllenen Gorge is a narrow gorge of the Reuss River in the canton of Uri, Switzerland, between Göschenen and Andermatt on the route to the Gotthard Pass. The building of a bridge through it in the early thirteenth century, later called the Devil's Bridge, opened the Gotthard route. In 1799 Russian forces under Suvorov fought the French there.
