Sebennytos

Also known as Samannud

Sebennytos was a city in the central Nile Delta, on the site of modern Samannud in Egypt. It was the home of the Thirtieth Dynasty, the last native royal house, founded by Nectanebo I in 380 BCE, whose kings built a temple to the god Onuris-Shu there. It was also the birthplace of the priest Manetho, whose history of Egypt in Greek gave the numbering of its dynasties.
