Shakhbut bin Sultan Al Nahyan
Shakhbut bin Sultan Al Nahyan was ruler of Abu Dhabi from 1928 to 1966. His long reign saw the collapse of the pearl trade and the discovery of oil, which was first exported in 1962, but his reluctance to spend the new revenues frustrated his family and the British. In 1966 he was replaced by his brother Zayed in a bloodless change of power.
