Bani Yas
The Bani Yas are a tribal confederation of the south-eastern Gulf coast, originally based in the Liwa oases. Their leading Al Nahyan family founded Abu Dhabi in the 18th century, and in 1833 the Al Bu Falasah section moved to Dubai under the Al Maktoum. The two ruling houses of the United Arab Emirates' largest emirates both come from the Bani Yas.
