Bani Utbah
The Bani Utbah were a confederation of Arab clans from central Arabia that migrated to the Gulf coast in the late 17th and early 18th centuries. Under the protection of the Banu Khalid they settled at Kuwait, where the Al Sabah became rulers, and at Zubarah in Qatar, from where the Al Khalifa took Bahrain in 1783. They lived by pearling, shipbuilding and trade.
