Banias
Caesarea Philippi was an ancient city at the springs of the Jordan below Mount Hermon, on the site of the shrine of Pan at Paneas. Herod's son Philip the Tetrarch rebuilt it around 2 BCE and made it his capital, naming it after Augustus. Agrippa II later renamed it Neronias, and the Gospels place Peter's confession of Jesus near it.
