Also known as Shatuo Turks

The Shatuo were a Turkic people of the Western Turkic tradition who settled on the northern frontier of Tang China in the 9th century. Their chief Li Keyong helped the Tang retake Chang'an from Huang Chao in 883 and was rewarded with Hedong, around Taiyuan. Shatuo rulers founded three of the Five Dynasties: the Later Tang, Later Jin and Later Han.
