Shattuara II

13th century BCE · 13th century BCE

Shattuara II was the last known king of Mitanni, or Hanigalbat, in the 13th century BCE. Allied with the Hittites and the Ahlamu, he rebelled against Assyria but was defeated by Shalmaneser I, who claimed to have blinded 14,400 captives and annexed his kingdom. His defeat ended Mitanni as an independent state.
