Shigatse Dzong

Also known as Samdrubtse

Shigatse Dzong, or Samdrubtse, is a fortress on a hill above Shigatse in the Tsang region of Tibet. It was seized by the Rinpungpa in 1435 and became the seat of their power and then of the Tsangpa kings, until the Khoshut Mongols captured it in 1642. Destroyed in the 1960s, it was rebuilt in the 2000s.
